Ghana’s enchanting coastline, an emblem of natural magnificence stretching over 500 kilometres along the Gulf of Guinea, is a treasure to cherish. The soft sands, pristine waters, and vibrant marine life compose an exquisite portrait of nature’s beauty. However, this coastal elegance faces a relentless foe – plastic pollution and waste. To defend this natural gem, acclaimed Ghanaian artist and devoted social activist Gasmilla launched in 2015 the “Fale Fale Beach Clean Up” project.
Since then he organised yearly initiatives aiming to clean the coastlines of Accra. He just announced the 2023 edition of the Fale Fale Beach Clean up Project and PrideBet Ghana is proud to support it this year for the very first time. Together we can do it!
About the Fale Fale Beach Clean up Project
Gasmilla, known for his musical talents and commitment to social causes, has always felt a deep connection to his country’s natural beauty. Witnessing the growing threat of plastic pollution, waste and environmental degradation along Ghana’s shores, he decided to use his influence and artistic platform to bring about positive change. Thus, the Fale Fale Beach Clean Up project was born in 2015.
The Heart of Fale Fale
“Fale Fale” – a cadence resonating with urgency as well as unity, rooted in the Ga language – encapsulates the essence of the project. “Let’s clean up” sums up Gasmilla’s aspiration to rally communities and furthermore incite a revolution of environmental consciousness. Beyond eradicating physical litter, the project aims to stimulate a profound shift in perspectives, embedding responsible waste management as well as environmental preservation in the collective mindset.
Uniting Communities, Inspiring Change
That is to say, the Fale Fale Beach Clean Up project goes beyond Gasmilla’s individual efforts. It acts as a catalyst for community engagement and collaboration. Local residents, environmental organisations, schools, businesses as well as volunteers come together regularly to join beach clean-up events. These events provide a space for education, discussion and also action on environmental issues. By uniting diverse stakeholders, the project therefore creates a sense of shared responsibility for the well-being of Ghana’s coastal areas. PrideBet launched in Ghana in April 2023. One of our company missions is to get actively involved with the community. Therefore when the Fisherman Worldwide approached us we needed to get involved. Therefore PrideBet Ghana is proudly sponsoring this years clean up project alongside other sponsors including Garid Accra, Onga Ghana or Cowbell Ghana.
Gasmilla’s “War on Filth”
The 2023 Fale Fale Beach Clean Up Project has the theme of “War on Filth”. Gasmilla’s 2023 events will unfold along the stretch of Ga Nshornaa from 19 August to 9 September 2023. Ga Nshornaa, a coastal haven near Accra, embodies the serenity that needs preservation from the looming threat of pollution. The Fale Fale Beach Clean Up project is set to ignite a clarion call for collective action and conscientiousness.
